Well, it depends on how far you travel. Because we are funded to provide services for people who have difficulty accessing their local communities, we may be able to subsidise your transport costs. If we can’t subsidise your trip, we can still provide you transport for a fee.
We will get you to the door of your destination, if you need help while you are there you might want to bring along someone to assist you. If that person is providing you with assistance, they can travel with us free of charge.
It’s never too early to book your transport. Our service is in high demand and the sooner you book, the more likely that we will be able to get you to were you need to be.
Depending on where your appointment is, think about how long it's going to take us to get you there. Remember we operate with volunteers, so we need to be able to leave at a reasonable time. If you can get your appointments between 11am and 2pm, that is usually perfect.
If you are undergoing a procedure that takes three or more hours, day surgery or a hospital pre-admission, our driver may be unable to wait and you may need to organise overnight accommodation in the area of your appointment. A return trip may be arranged for the next day.
We have an answering machine which will record messages if you need to contact the office after business hours to cancel or change a booking. Messages left on the answering machine are addressed as soon as staff members are available.
